Spring is coming!

As a fellow Berliner, I know what I’m talking about when I say that winter can be ugly. Windy, icy cold along with a post-apocalypticly ugly city scape makes every face on the subway look like Count Orlok.
作为一个柏林人,冬天对我来说并不是什么讨喜的季节。整个城市在冬季怪兽的统治之下,刺骨的寒风和冰雪到处肆虐。躲进地铁里的每个人看起来都像是苍白的僵尸或吸血鬼。

But the sweet is never as sweet without the sour and it is that desolate and depressing winter that makes my city’s residents appreciate the relieving spring all the more. Bars and Cafés move their tables and benches outside, the parks are filled with people on blankets and the streets become more forgiving as people leave their cars at home in favor for the good old bicycle.
不过值得欣慰的是,沉闷压抑的冬季让柏林的居民们更能感受春天的反差萌。酒吧和咖啡店纷纷将桌椅移到了户外,马路上开始熙熙攘攘,公园里也多了许多野餐散步的人流。大家都开始将汽车停在车库里,骑上了自行车出行。

While we might resort to Schnapps to keep us warm in the winter, it is wine that refreshes us in the spring and summer. White wine of course. Not too old, not too heavy, but young, fresh and fruity. Keep the alcohol level under 12%.  Riesling, Slivaner, Gewürztraminer might not be taken seriously by some wineries, but frankly, they aren’t getting the credit they deserve. Maybe it is their subtle flavor that doesn’t boast with a taste explosion on your tongue. Maybe it is because there still is prejudice towards wine made in Germany. But whoever has their doubts about German wine, has obviously never tasted a Bacchus Volkacher Ratsherr or a Mosel Riesling.
依靠喜纳普斯这样的烈酒取暖的冬季过去了。葡萄酒重新登上了春夏季的舞台。不需要古老的年份,不需要厚重的口感,酒精度在12°之内的清爽新鲜,又果味十足的白葡萄酒是暖意融融时节的最佳选择。雷司令,席瓦娜,琼瑶浆等品种的白葡萄酒本应独领风骚,不过事实却是,它们没有得到该有的重视。有可能这样需要在舌尖体会微妙细腻的美妙口感并不符合现在大家重口味的嗜好,也有可能是对德国葡萄酒本身的偏见与轻视。但是对德国葡萄酒有怀疑的人,显然没有喝过巴克斯或莫塞的雷司令。

Even in Germany, there is some cultural tension between the north and the south, but if there is one thing we in the north can all agree upon, it’s that the folks at the Rhein really know their wine.
So in that sense: “Prost!”
德国即使是现在,南北两边仍然有些文化分歧,但是唯独在一件事上大家的意见是一致的,那就是对莱茵地区葡萄酒其及其优秀的骄傲感。 从这个意义上,我们可以说声:“万幸”。
